Water sorption isotherms and hysteresis of cement paste at moderately high temperature, up to 80 °C

چکیده

The constitutive models of concrete often consider water desorption isotherms to be near-equilibrium and significantly affected by moderately high temperature, 40–80°C, typically through microstructural changes. However literature data suggest that adsorption, not desorption, is moderate temperatures do cause This work supports the latter theory, dynamic vapor sorption experiments on cement paste at 20–80°C. Samples were pre-conditioned 60% relative humidity 20°C, measured for several ranges testing rates. results, corroborated classical DFT simulations, indicate adsorption mostly unaffected whereas out-of-equilibrium due ink-bottle effect humidity, interlayer low humidity. Starting from second cycle, higher features a shift cavitation pressure overall smaller hysteresis. A conceptual model pore-specific temperature-dependent hysteresis proposed qualitatively explain results.

Water sorption isotherms of globe artichoke leaves

One third of the artichoke production is used in industrial processes, where up to 70% 85% of the initial raw material is transformed into solid wastes. For an adequate management of these wastes, it is necessary to know their water sorption properties, because physical, chemical and biological changes which occur during their storage depend on water-solid interactions. The objectives of this w...

Water Sorption Isotherms of Surfactants: A Tool To Evaluate Humectancy.

Fundamental experimental data for moisture absorption of non-ionic polydisperse surfactants with differing ethylene oxide (EO) content and variable aliphatic portions were measured at relative humidities between 0 and 95% at 25 °C. Remarkable differences in moisture absorption were observed between surfactant classes but also within one series of surfactants differing in either EO content or th...

Theoretical Background Water Vapor Sorption Isotherms

The term sorption is generally used to describe the initial penetration and the dispersal of the permeant molecules into food matrices (Chirife and Iglesias 1978) and, more generally, into all kinds of polymers (Naylor 1989; Tsujita 1992). This term includes adsorption, absorption into microvoids, and cluster formation. When a food matrix is placed in a humid atmosphere, the relationship betwee...

Effects of High Temperature on Carbonated Calcium Silicate Cement (CSC) and Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) Paste

This paper presents a comparative study on the effects of high temperature (~500°C) on carbonated calcium silicate-based cement (CSC), hydrated ordinary Portland cement (OPC), and hydrated OPC with 20% fly ash (FA) paste samples. The CSC is primarily composed of calcium–silicate minerals with different calcium to silica atomic ratios, such as wollastonite, rankinite, and pseudowollastonite. The...
